Preparation

Description of the study
A diagnostic test that evaluates peripheral nerve conduction and muscle function, studying neuromuscular connections in neurological and orthopedic disorders. When stimulating the motor fibers of a nerve, the excitation wave travels not only to the muscle, but also, to the motor cells of the anterior horns. There it bounces back like an echo and reaches the muscle as the so-called F-wave. With peripheral stimulation, the excitation wave runs almost twice the length of the nerve.
Contraindications

- Metal components in the heart (such as an artificial valve),
- Metal components in the body area under examination, such as endoprostheses.
