The pediatric hematology outpatient clinic deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the blood and hematopoietic system, namely the bone marrow, lymph nodes, spleen and liver. The task of the hematologist is to treat health problems such as anemia, blood clotting disorders and blood cancers, among others. Indications for visiting a pediatric hematologist include bleeding, chronic fatigue in a child, sudden weight loss, loss of appetite, increased lethargy.
The pediatric hematology outpatient clinic also provides access to specialized tests, such as:
- laboratory tests,
- biochemical tests.
If necessary, the pediatric hematologist may also order other tests: ultrasound, bone marrow biopsy, CT scan, MRI, genetic testing.
