Description of the study
Ultrasound is the most effective diagnostic method for the Achilles tendon (Achilles tendon otherwise known as the heel tendon, tendon of the triceps calf muscle). The structure of the tendon, the presence of fluid under the tendon (inflammatory exudate), as well as in the tendon bursa and in the subcutaneous calcaneus of the heel are evaluated. An evaluation of the bony outlines of the heel bone and the heel attachment of the tendon is also performed.
Indications
- The inflammatory process taking place in the tendon,
- Damage (rupture of the Achilles tendon),
- A sudden or increasing sensation of restriction of mobility within a joint.
